MY GROWTH STORY

(+instagram growth tips)

3 min read

I started my new instagram on Monday, February 26, 2024 and made my first post on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.

I had almost no idea what to do right or what I could be doing wrong from that moment but one thing I knew for sure was my target and I started working towards it. Another thing I knew for sure was my niche, I picked my specific niche and stuck with it, although this is not necessarily applicable to everyone, this was just what I wanted to do and knew I would enjoy doing without getting tired along the way.

As someone who is easily distracted and easily discouraged. Picking a sustainable niche personally was a lot helpful and genuinely helped me stay consistent no matter what. Even at that, I was able to make a versatile ground for myself and I’m not put into one box.

After my first 5 posts in a week, I gained 5 followers and reached up to 300+ people, which made me very excited and filled with hope.

Friday, March 17, 2024 I hit my first 100 followers after making a total of 16 posts, this increase rate in my followers made me set a goal to hit 10k followers in the year 2024 and for rest of march, I posted at least two days out of three.

April 18, 2024. Which was 6 days after my birthday, I got my first viral video (now sitting at 1.1m views) which quickly increased my follower count to 1,000 plus on April 19, 2024. Exactly a week after my birthday. (I took that as a late birthday gift from instagram) and by the end of May, I hit 16,000 followers in total.

From that moment, my followers continued to increase drastically but one thing that never changed was my consistency.

Why did I share all of these insights?

Just to let you know that it doesn’t happen overnight (I mean, it kind of does) but don’t post one video once and expect it to sky rocket from nowhere (there are chances of this happening as well if you’re a lucky lucky person).

WHAT I THINK WOULD HELP YOU GROW.

Now, for this, there’s definitely some things you can do right, and consistency is a major one of them. I’ll highlight 3 major ones

CONSISTENCY

I know you’re tired of hearing it every time, consistency consistency consistency. But, as cliche as it sounds, it’s the entire truth about growing on social media. Staying consistent as much as you can will really help you in your big journey, not only will you always be in people’s faces, you’d also be stuck in their heads.

QUALITY CONTENT

This is a very important part of growing on the internet. Being consistent can only do so much, consistency with low quality content can do more harm than good.

Quality content in the sense of :

  • Taking your time to actually curate a good content idea (it might seem like a lot of work to have to do that while also trying to post every “single” day but it’s really not as hard as it seems)

  • Taking high quality videos and good editing. ( don’t just pick up any video and shove it in people’s faces)

INTERACTIONS

Try as much as possible to interact back with people that like/comment on your video especially when you’re just starting off. Create a returning audience with the people that find you for the first time.

Also, interact with creators in your ‘niche’ when you scroll through and find them. (Be genuinely interactive and let them see that you do care and love what they have posted) for example, instead of just commenting“nice video” emphasize on certain points in the video that intrigued you (there’s so much more you can comment just depending on the context, and be natural with it.) with this, you’re likely to gain a follow from said creator (if you’re already following them of course) and even an interaction on one of the 100 posts you’ve made (😉)

Don’t be scared to be seen trying. Yes, at first they might want to see you as “cringe” but trust me, as time passes by, they’ll congratulate you and ask you how you did it!

If you’re skeptical, start a new account (this really helped me gather a focused audience and also do everything I wanted to do freely as well) you wouldn’t care who might be watching or seeing you, everybody becomes a stranger!

Be focused on your goal and aim to achieve it, bestie.

xoxo
